Well it's been quite some time since I visited my own little corner of the net. Life has been a bit manic for the last four/five months. In April, M and I had an offer accepted on a flat. From April to July, most of my energy went into forcing the exchange and completion process along, as it soon became apparent that the vendor wasn't in that much of a rush to take our money, and his delays put us at serious risk of being 'of no fixed address'. But on 19th July, my birthday no less, we found ourselves fighting tooth and nail and managed the final push, and by that evening we were standing in our new living room, me clutching the keys so hard I think they left an imprint on my palm.
The next three months were spent packing, moving, unpacking, building furniture, drilling, finding homes for everything, falling asleep on the sofa of an evening and barely managing to crawl to bed.
It's been exhausting, and even though I feel a warm fuzzy feeling in the pit of my stomach whenever I turn my key in our front door, I won't deny that it's been all consuming. I naively assumed that it was all hot air when people went on about moving being one of the most stressful experiences, but it really is true. I haven't had the time or energy to do much else, but I'm starting to see the forest through the trees. The Daddy-O is coming to stay this weekend so we'll cross some more jobs off the everlasting to-do list. We're getting there, slowly but surely, and hopefully I'll get back to do the little things I love soon enough.
